Independent Living
Independent Living at the Martha Jefferson House offers beautiful views of our landscaped grounds and access to the surrounding Rugby Road-University Corner Historic District in Charlottesville, Virginia. Independent Living Residents at the Martha Jefferson House live in their own one or two-bedroom apartments, participate in as many of the activities of our community as they choose, and benefit from a maintenance free lifestyle. Enjoy delicious meals in our dining room, housekeeping, scheduled transportation services, accessible nursing staff, and so much more! Enjoy a healthy quality of life by joining an engaging community with social connections and access to many shops, museums, and theaters, and the Gordon Avenue library right outside of our doors.
Assisted Living
Assisted Living at the Martha Jefferson House offers one or two-bedroom apartments, suites or studios and the support needed for various daily living activities. Assisted Living at the Martha Jefferson House is designed to help you or your loved one maintain their independence through a person-centered care plan unique to each resident. Assisted Living accommodations can range in services from medication management, to assistance with getting dressed and ready for the day, bathing assistance, as well as other activities of daily living. Our Assisted Living residents enjoy a maintenance free lifestyle with access to fresh seasonal meals served in our Dining Room, scheduled transportation services, housekeeping, accessible nursing staff, many social and recreational activities, planned outings in the Charlottesville area, and so much more!
Long-Term Nursing Care
Long-term nursing care involves a variety of services designed to meet a resident’s health or personal care needs when they can no longer perform everyday activities on their own. As you or your loved one ages, they might require more care or as an ongoing illness or health condition worsens. At the Martha Jefferson House, our long-term care nursing wing provides a private room, housekeeping, personal care, activities of daily living, social and recreational activities, meals, and medical services.

Rehabilitation Services Designed for You!
At the Martha Jefferson House, Brookwood Therapeutic Services provides both our residents and the broader Charlottesville community with access to high-quality therapeutic treatments for a range of neurologic disorders, including stroke, vertigo, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, as well as Gait and Balance Disorders. Additionally, we offer specialized care for musculoskeletal injuries, pain disorders, long COVID, and Geriatric Deconditioning resulting from illness. Our approach is holistic and tailored to each individual, aiming not only to treat but also to promote a robust and healthy lifestyle that extends beyond the duration of therapy sessions.
Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy works on restoring normal movement and function, while addressing issues on pain, weakness, loss of motion or lack of coordination.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy helps by assisting you in restoring your daily routine and activities. This may include the way in which you care for yourself, your family, or your home. OT will work to keep you independent and doing what you love.
Speech Therapy
Speech Therapy addresses speech language and voice disorders to improve communication, as well as treats swallowing dysfunction.
